I will be climbing Kosciuszko in October to support the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation. I’ll admit that the sheer pain caused by Crohn’s disease was something I didn’t fully grasp until living with one of my best friends, who suffers the effects of Crohn’s every day. Seeing someone as strong and amazing as Lauren be so at the mercy of her body, often unable to will it to do the basic things she wants to do, like sleep through the night or eat food like a normal human, crushes my soul. Four surgeries later, she’s in the best place she’s been in the 15+ years I’ve known her, but we’re still so far from a cure. I would do anything to be able to help provide people like Lauren the healthy, pain-free life they want and deserve.
Kosciuszko by the numbers:
Height (in feet): 7,310
Rank out of the seven summits (height): 7
Rank in the world (height): …let’s just say this is a very approachable hike
Estimated time to summit: 1 day
Attempted climb timing: February 2020
Join me in funding research to find a cure for Crohn’s & Colitis by:
Buying the Kosciuszko specific tee shirt when it comes out. Slogan submissions and voting for this tee shirt will happen in July, with shirts available in August. All proceeds will go to the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation. Link coming in August.
In the meantime, Lauren and I are training for the longest race she’s ever done, the Austin Half Marathon on February 17th. Down the road I’ll have a dedicated link to keep the donations rolling, but for today, feel free to support Lauren and her half marathon here.
